Pair charged with armed robbery after offering victim a ride

- Two young men are facing charges after police say they robbed an acquaintance at gunpoint after they had offered him a ride.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the two men met the victim on Tuesday and gave him a tide to a check-cashing facility where he cashed a check. After cashing the check the victim returned to the car and continued driving with the suspects.

When near the intersection of Smokehollow Road and Walnut Creek Road, the victim told police that both suspects brandished handguns and pointed them at the victim.  The suspects demanded the cash the victim had just recently obtained from cashing the check as well as the victim’s cell phone.  The victim then exited the vehicle and the suspects fled the scene.

The two suspect, identified as 18-year-old D'Andre Damian McLean and 19-year-old David Anthony Sanchez, were arrested Thursday.

McLean has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.  Sanchez has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

The pair were taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail.
