CORNELIUS, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A no swimming advisory for part of Lake Norman was lifted Friday after hundreds of gallons of sewage discharged into the water.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, an estimated 150 gallons of sewage entered a single cove between Springwinds Drive and Penninsula Cove Lane in Cornelius. The discharge was due to a broken sewer line on John Conner Road. Water crews have stopped the sewage flow.
Officials issued a no swimming advisory Wednesday for the single cove.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services staff said they would monitor water quality in the affected area until conditions are deemed safe for human contact.
