Passing storms batter Conover golf course

- The Rock Barn Golf Course was lashed by some nasty weather Wednesday afternoon. The golf course said the weather took out at least 30 to 40 trees.

"This is rare because this was a nice day and all of a sudden this popped out of nowhere," memebrs with the golf course explained.

Weather ripped one tree right out of the ground, crashing into the clubhouse at Rock Barn Country Club.

"All of a sudden the tree right beside the clubhouse comes down and smashes right beside the door."

The roof and one lonely golf cart were its victims.

"It lasted 20 minutes at the most I mean, boom boom, it was done."

But mother nature went out for a round on the golf course as well. Another tree was removed from the ground right off Fairway No. 10.

"It was like a micro burst, I mean I heard that there was a tornado here moving the water around in the pond."

There were trees lying on lawns and unfortunately, there were trees lying on top of homes.

As cleanup is underway, it's the damage at the Clubhouse which hurts the most. Witnesses said the storm was in and out in a hurry. "It was an experience, pretty quick, I wasn't expecting it."

Both 18-hole golf courses will be closed until at least Saturday for clean up.
