Pedestrian struck by car in northeast Charlotte dies from injuries

- An elderly man who was struck by a vehicle in northeast Charlotte last month has died from his injuries, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. 

Clyde Cumberlander, 74, was hit by a vehicle at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 in the 5000 block of North Tryon Street. 

Upon arrival, officers located Cumberlander lying in the road. The driver of the vehicle that struck him had fled the scene. Witnesses gave officers the vehicle description and direction of travel. 

The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Elliott Greene, 20, was located a short time later and arrested. He is charged with felony hit-and-run causing serious injury/death and possession of marijuana. 

Cumberlander died from his injuries in the hospital on Wednesday, June 6.
