Pedestrian struck, killed in Lancaster County

- A man who was at his mailbox retrieving the mail was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday morning in Lancaster County.

According to Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Lynette Walker, 60-year-old Charles Byrdic, of Lancaster, died after a car left the road and struck him in front of his home in the 2200 block of Airport Rd. around 9:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
