Upon arrival, officers found a woman lying in the roadway. The woman, identified as Polly Miranda Rogers, 20, was pronounced dead on scene by Medic.

According to investigators, Rogers was riding in a Charlotte Party Charter bus that had left UNC Charlotte for a bar in uptown when she fell out of an emergency window and into traffic. Police said it's believed she was struck by two vehicles.

Police said speed was not a factor in this incident. Alcohol or drug use is unknown at this time.

Any witnesses to this incident are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600 or Det. Steve Williams at (704) 432-2169.

Rogers was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

“Polly was the friendliest person you would ever meet in your life. She could always be found in the common areas of the house greeting sisters after their day at classes and making sure their day was going great,” said chapter President Alexis Marie Burns.
