CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Traffic is expected to pick up this weekend in South Charlotte, especially on Park Road around the Quail Hollow Club, for the PGA Championship.
Nearby businesses are making it clear people going to the PGA Championship are not allowed to park in their lot with a warning that they will be towed. Those signs are posted at the Quail Corners shopping center across the street from Quail Hollow.
FOX 46 Charlotte talked with some golf spectators who are using Uber to drop them off at nearby shopping centers and neighborhoods, so they can avoid the traffic and parking hassles.
“I think it’s better than if you drive your own car, you’re going to have to pay 30-40 bucks to park and then another ten bucks to take the shuttle, so I paid only about 12 bucks to get here,” said Sam Waugh, who used Uber to get to the course.
People who live in the area say they’re doing their best to avoid the traffic.
Robin Miller had to go to a different grocery store because the one where she usually shops is near a road that’s closed for the golf tournament.
“We just came from the YMCA where the parking lot was pretty packed, and a lot of the camps weren’t going on this week because of the PGA, but it’s great for the community to bring all the extra people to the area,” Miller said.
