PINEVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A 22-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday evening in Pineville, according to the Pineville Police Department.
Authorities said the victim was found near Pine Acres Avenue and had been shot multiple times. The young man was pronounced dead on scene.
According to police, the suspect and victim likely knew each other, and the suspect was also injured in the shooting. The suspect is being treated at the hospital and will be taken into custody at a later time.
FOX 46's David Sentendrey spoke to the father of the victim Wednesday evening.
“All I know is that my son is lying up there dead," the father said.

According to Pineville police, the last homicide that occurred in their area was on Tuesday, Oct. 9 2018 at the Willow Ridge Apartments. Before Oct. 9, their last homicide occurred two years ago in July 2016. Police said this case remains ongoing and they continue to interview witnesses.
