PINEVILLE, NC - Changes are coming to Pineville and town leaders couldn't be more excited about it.
The vacant Cone Mill near downtown will undergo a transformation to draw more people and businesses to town.
"I think it's fabulous to tell you the truth. I would love to see that happen,” said Kiki Godschalk, owner of Kiki’s Kottage.
What the 28-acre property will become still needs to be figured out.
Earlier this week town officials hired the Development Finance Initiative, a non-profit group of UNC’s school of government.
DFI will figure out the best use of the land and find developers.
While DFI’s work continues for the next 12 months, the town will take measures to improve the way the property looks.
The property has been vacant for 30 years.
The town took ownership of the land in late-December.
