MOORESVILLE, NC (FOX 46) - A service call of a different kind Friday morning---one with flowers, hugs and love.
Angie Metzger and her daughter Stephanie greeted by Pink Heals, a national non profit helping battling health issues and Mooresville firefighters.
"When you're a single mom and you're trying to fight all the time for everything, to know I have all these people like this are in my corner it makes me feel really special," said Angie Metzger.
Angie will be cancer free for a year next month and she passes the fighter quality down to her daughter, better known as Champ , who has been overcoming quite a bit in her nearly thirteen years of life.
"My daughter was born with a severe heart defect, down syndrome and autism," she said. "Long story short they said she wouldn't make it past two and she's made it but she's had almost like 50 surgeries. She's had five open heart surgeries,"a service call of a different kind Friday morning ---
And like with any Pink Heals tour --- no visit is complete without signing your name on the signature pink truck.
"The fact that my daughter is here with me to put her name on the truck and I also lost my mother to cancer this year. They let me put my mother's name on the truck. It kind of makes me feel my mom is part of this too," Metzger said.
