CHARLOTTE, NC - Two pit bulls have been euthanized after attacking an 86-year-old woman last week, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Animal Care & Control.
On Wednesday, April 6, the CMPD AC&C obtained an owner surrender on both dogs that were involved in the fatal attack at the 3200 block of Luke Crossing Drive in Charlotte on Monday, March 28.
Upon arrival, Animal Care & Control found Bessie Flowers suffering from fatal dog bite injuries. Flowers was in town staying with relatives and police said the dogs belonged to a fellow family member.
Neighbors said the dogs have a history of aggressive behavior.
The dogs completed the ten day rabies quarantine on Thursday and were humanely euthanized, according to CMPD AC&C.
Questions still surround what started the attack.
The investigation has been closed and there are no charges.
