ROCK HILL, SC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A young woman was killed and a man was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted wounds following a violent stabbing incident Monday night in Rock Hill, police say.
The woman has been identified as Marandy Jade Brandon, 25, by the York County Coroner's Office. Autopsy and toxicology testing are pending.
The Rock Hill Police Department was called to a residence around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 along Barrow Court in regards to a 'stabbing in progress'.
Upon arrival, Officer Langley was flagged down by several men on scene claiming a woman was being stabbed inside the home. The officer entered the house, announcing his presence. He slowly made his way through the house, eventually making his way to a closed bedroom door.
According to the police report, Officer Langley opened the door where he saw a 26-year-old Hispanic man holding a silver butcher knife who was on his knees stabbing himself in the chest. The officer gave multiple commands for the man to drop the knife, but the man continued to stab himself.
The report states more officers arrived on scene and Officer Miller deployed her taser, effectively stopping the man from hurting himself further.
A deceased woman, later identified as Brandon, was found on the floor inside the bedroom. The man was flown to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still working this case, and conducting interviews. No charges have been filed at this time.
This incident marks the fifth homicide for the year in Rock Hill.
