CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A Charlotte man has been charged with attempted murder and assault after his ex-girlfriend said he attacked her, according to police.
Just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, officers were called to the scene in the 5700 block of N. Sharon Amity Road in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman's car outside of an office parking lot with heavy damage. The victim told police her ex-boyfriend, Kendrick Piggie, followed her and hit her car several times with his.
Once she pulled into the parking lot, he hit her car again, then fired shots at her before fleeing the scene. The woman's four kids were in the car at the time of the attack.
Piggie eventually crashed nearby and fled the scene on foot. With the assistance of K-9, officers found and arrested him. He was taken to Atrium Health with minor injuries and was interviewed by division detectives.
At the end of the interview, Piggie was charged with attempted murder, several counts of assault, communicating threats, possession of a firearm by felon, and shooting into an occupied car.
He will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office upon release from the hospital.
