CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have confirmed that a body recovered from Lake Wylie over the weekend is that of Vatsla Watkins, of Charlotte.
Officers found Watkins' body floating by the Buster Boyd Bridge Sunday. They said a boater called 911 after seeing a body floating in the lake.
Watkins was reported missing on March 19. Her vehicle was found a few days later at Pier 49 LLC at Lake Wylie.
March 31, 2019, at 5:45 p.m., 911 received a call stating a person was floating in Lake Wylie by the Buster Boyd Bridge. After further investigation by detectives, the victim was identified as Vatsla Watkins. She was reported missing on 3/19/ 19. There is no foul play suspected.— CMPD News (@CMPD) April 3, 2019
According to police, Watkins, 39, drove away from her home around 1:10 p.m. on March 18 was not seen or heard from since. She was last seen driving her silver 2004 Mercedes-Benz C230 with a Carolina Panthers NC tag 8215CP before she disappeared.
Investigators said they do not suspect foul play. Authorities have not released her official cause of death.
