Police: Good Samaritan carjacked at gunpoint

- A Good Samaritan says he was carjacked and had a gun stuck in his face after trying to help someone on the Interstate 485 in north Charlotte.

Joseph Scruggs says he saw a man walking down the interstate, not far from the exit for Interstate 85, Tuesday night just after 11 p.m. The father says he pulled over to see if the man needed help.

"I pulled over and next thing I know I have a gun in my face telling me to get out of the car, so I'm not going to argue with someone with a gun," Scruggs told FOX 46.

Scruggs says the gunman told him to get out of the car. He did, and he says that's when the gunman sped off with his car.

Q: "What was going through your head during all this?"

A: "I gotta make it to my daughter. I gotta make sure she has a dad to come back to."

Scruggs eventually was able to make it to a gas station and call police. The suspect in the case is still at large.
