CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a fatal crash that happened along Wilkinson Boulevard.
The multi-vehicle accident occurred at 6:23 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the corner of Wilkinson Boulevard and Moores Chapel Road.
Medic said a total of three people were transported to CMC where one woman died.
Christopher Ryan Goss was driving a gold 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup westbound on Wilkinson Boulevard from Moores Chapel Loop in a reckless manner, according to police.
Police said Goss crossed the double yellow center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a blue Hyundai Elantra head on. Goss was taken to CMC with serious injuries.
Shannon Young was driving the Elantra and taken to CMC with serious injuries.
Joyce Hinson was the front passenger of the Elantra and she was taken to CMC where she was pronounced dead due to injuries from the crash, according to police.
After the truck hit the Elantra a 2010 Hyundai Elantra driven by Gary Everette Gourley was involved. Gourley suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
Goss was charged with driving while impaired at the hospital and detectives obtained warrants on Goss for felony death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury by motor vehicle and careless and reckless driving.
Reckless driving and alcohol are contributing factors for Goss.
Family of Goss told FOX 46 that he was on doctor prescribed medication, and was never told not to operate a vehicle.
Wilkinson Boulevard closed at Old Dowd Road heading towards the City of Belmont for a few hours, according to officers.
