KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A Kannapolis woman is facing multiple charges, including felony hit-and-run, after hitting and killing a man and his two dogs overnight and driving away from the scene, police said.
The incident happened around 1:41 a.m. Monday, April 29 near the intersection of Bethpage Road and Leonard Avenue.
When officers got to the area they found Santiago Esteban, 48, and his two dogs dead. Evidence found at the scene indicated that Esteban was walking his two dogs when they were struck by a vehicle. A witness reported a red sedan leaving the scene.
Investigators determined the vehicle belonged to a woman identified as 22-year-old Lisa Jones. She was arrested on Monday without incident and charged with felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving left of center.
