CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in the hit-and-run incident in southwest Charlotte.
They say the crash that happened Thursday night in the 9000 block of S. Tryon St. at Sandy Porter Road sent a woman to the hospital.
Police have charged Roberto Alfredo Flores, 31, on Friday after they received a tip that the vehicle matching the description of the car wanted in connection with the hit and run was discovered in the 16000 block of Parasol Tree Place.
Once detectives arrived on scene and located a 2004 Nissan Sentra in the parking lot, the registered owner provided them with the name of the person who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Flores confessed to being responsible for the hit-and-run and was then arrested and transported to the Mecklenburg County Intake Center.
The woman was taken by Medic to CMC Main with life threatening injuries. Police believe she was in or near the crosswalk when hit by Flores' vehicle.
Police are still investigating the incident.
