Police: Man assaults employee during armed robbery at Charlotte business

- Police say an employee was assaulted during an armed robbery in Charlotte over the weekend and they need the public’s help locating the suspect.

It happened about 12:45 a.m. Saturday at the Kangaroo Express located on N. Tryon Street in University City, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Detectives say the suspect assaulted an employee and implied he had a weapon before taking money from the victim’s hand. The suspect then fled the scene in a white car.

The suspect is described as a black man, 50-60 years of age, and was last seen wearing a teal blue shirt and black shorts.  The suspect vehicle is described as an older model white Mercury with a blue top and a basket hitch.
