Police: Suspect points shotgun at clerk during Rock Hill grocery robbery

Police are working to identify a suspect they say pointed a shotgun at a clerk during an armed robbery at a Rock Hill grocery store Monday night.

Rock Hill police say an officer responded about 9:45 p.m. to Park Grocery, located at 732 East Main Street, about an armed robbery. The store clerk told police that 40 minutes earlier a black male, wearing a red bandanna over his face, entered the store armed with a shotgun, pointed the gun at the clerk and yelled, "give me the money."

According to RHPD, surveillance video shows the suspect running out of the store toward South Jones Avenue. A witness told police that when the suspect entered the store he had the shotgun under his sweatshirt and looked around the store before he approached the cash register.

When asked why they had waited so long to call police, the clerk said they wanted to review the surveillance video to see if they could identify the suspect. The surveillance video has not yet been released.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Rock Hill Police Department.
