CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A 'suspicious package' that was found in an east Charlotte neighborhood prompting police to request that residents stay inside their homes Tuesday morning has been deemed safe.
The package was found at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 near a private mailbox in the 500 block of Harri Ann Drive.
Police said a resident called 911 Tuesday and reported locating a suspicious item along the sidewalk. Members from CMPD’s Bomb Squad, Charlotte Fire Department, and Medic were notified and responded to the scene.
As a precaution, residents were told to stay inside and traffic on Lawyers Road was shut down.
The Bomb Squad was able to render the item safe on Tuesday. CMPD’s Special Operations Division Arson Unit will investigate this incident.
