Police: Warrants obtained for man accused of killing ex-girlfriend

- The Pineville Police Department has obtained a murder and burglary warrant for a man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and injuring himself, according to Pineville police.

58-year-old Mark Peter O'Dell will be charged with the two warrants once he is released from the hospital from his self-inflicted injuries, according to police.

Officers were called out to the 100 block of Olive Street in Pineville in regards to a shooting that had taken place inside the home on Monday, July 11.

When officers arrived they found deceased 54-year-old Lorene Potter Simpson who they say was the victim of the homicide.

Officers said O'Dell was still on scene with self-inflicted injuries to his body and he was taken to a local Charlotte hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Police are continuing to investigate.
