WILKES COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A Revolutionary War statue and a Confederate memorial were vandalized in Wilkes County, according to the Wilkesboro Police Department.
The statue of war figure Colonel Ben Cleveland was found spray painted over the weekend. Police say the vandalism occurred Friday night. The statue was painted with the word "genocide."
A Civil War memorial dedicated to Wilkes Confederate soldiers was also defaced with the word "attack."
