Motorcycle involved in deadly wreck reported stolen; driver did not have motorcycle endorsement

- One person has been killed following a deadly motorcycle wreck Wednesday afternoon in northwest Charlotte.

The crash happened Wednesday, May 30 in the 1700 block of Oakdale Road.

CMPD and Medic were called to the scene where 18-year-old Daniel Hugh Dockery II was found laying in a front yard. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators say Dockery was traveling south on Oakdale Rd. at a high rate of speed when he came up on a slower traveling car. Dockery passed the car on the left, but lost control of the motorcycle as he reentered the right lane.

He ran off of the road to the right and traveled several yards before he hit two trees and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Police say he did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license, and the section of Oakdale Rd. where he passed the car was marked for no passing.

Additionally, the motorcycle was reported stolen by the owner on May 30 at 9:35 a.m. Police don't know if Dockery stole the motorcycle or received it from another person.

This crash is still being investigated. Any witnesses are asked to call Detective Steve Williams at 704-432-2169 or Crimestoppers at 704-334-1600.
