SALISBURY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The rain fell, the winds picked up, and trees and power lines came down in parts of Salisbury overnight.
One house along Mitchell Avenue in the Fulton Heights neighborhood was hit particularly hard as a massive tree came crashing down on their home.
"OH WOW!" said joggers that ran by my camera this AM when they saw this massive tree on house. A lot of Salisbury residents woken up by last nights storm. Down Mitchell Ave tree also snapped on a power line, debris in road, + cones warning drivers of mess left behind @FOX46News pic.twitter.com/hTR7yFQJTl— Lauren Dugan (@DuganFOX46) May 11, 2018
The tree's branches span from the first floor porch to the roof of the home. Rowan County was under a severe thunderstorm warning Thursday night as pounding rain, lightning, strong winds, and even hail hit some spots of the county.
As sun comes up in Salisbury we are getting better look at damage on Mitchell Ave. This tree is so big it stretches across yard. Uprooted in 1 corner, on other side the branches are blocking driveway so these residents cannot get cars out!
