YORK COUNTY, S.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Scammers are using the name of an officer hurt during a deadly police ambush to try and get money from York County neighbors.
Investigators say the caller told one woman that he was Sgt. Randy Clinton of the York County Sheriff's Office.

The scammer tried to trick the woman into giving up thousands of dollars to avoid going to jail.
Clinton was one of four officers shot while responding to a call last year. Detective Mike Doty was killed during the shooting. Clinton and two others were injured.
