School bus driver charged with DUI during route identified

- A Chesterfield County school bus driver was charged with DUI during her route Monday morning near Pageland, Highway Patrol confirmed. 

Angela R. Caldwell, 53, of Jefferson, South Carolina, has been charged with DUI and child endangerment. 

Witnesses driving near the school bus around 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28 noticed the vehicle was driving somewhat erratically and called 911. 

The school bus was stopped by Highway Patrol at 121 Fairview Church Road Monday while on its way to Central High School. Five high school students were on board the school bus at the time.

Caldwell was taken to the Chesterfield County Detention Center where she was given a breathalyzer test where she registered a .31 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.
