Search underway for suspect accused of stealing vehicle with kids inside

- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is actively searching for a suspect who stole a couple's vehicle Sunday evening, with their two children inside. Luckily, the two boys were able to jump out of the vehicle. 

The incident happened around 5:25 p.m. Sunday, November 5 at the Quick Trip at 116 Clanton Road. 

Police said the man and woman had gone inside the business when an unknown man stole their dark gray 2016 Ford F150 extended ccab pick-up, which they had left running in the parking lot. 

Inside the truck were the victims' two sons who are 9 and 13-years-old. The 9-year-old immediately jumped out of the vehicle and the 13-year-old did the same a short time later as the vehicle was traveling southboun on S. Tryon Street. Neither boy was harmed. 

The suspect is described as a black male, believed to be in his 20s, wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans. He is described as having a medium build, with a short afro haircut. 

CMPD said neither the suspect or the stolen vehicle have been located. The license plate on the vehicle is North Carolina EHL-1426.
