Search underway for suspect in Huntersville Waffle House armed robbery

- A search is underway for a suspect who robbed a Waffle House at gunpoint early Wednesday morning in Huntersville, according to police.

The armed robbery happened at 4:17 a.m. at the Waffle House located on Statesville Road.

Officers said the suspect entered the restaurant and robbed the business with a handgun. He was able to snatch cash from the register and flee the scene on foot before police could arrive.

No one was injured during the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, mid-30s, with straight, longer than shoulder-length hair, wearing a black wig, a light colored fitted hat, gold framed glasses, a light gray hoodie, and blue jeans.

At this time, police cannot confirm if this is the same suspect from the reported armed robbery that happened at a Waffle House in Charlotte on Tuesday.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Lt. Sean Freeston at (704) 464-5400.
