CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - A severe thunderstorm left thousands in the dark late Friday.
Duke Energy was reporting 40,000 customers without power across Mecklenburg County.
Multiple trees were reported down in Concord and Monroe, one specifically on a house. The Charlotte Fire Department issued the following statement to citizens Friday:
The Charlotte Fire Department along with all other emergency services are extremely busy in the Charlotte Metro area. Please remind viewer to use 911 only for emergencies. If they need to report power outages please call Duke Power at 1-800-Power-On. Any other questions or non-emergencies please dial 311.
