CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a sexual assault and multiple peeping tom incidents in north Charlotte.
"I see hands like this at my window and I said what? I said what you doing at my window. Get away from my window," A woman that lives in the Slater Ridge neighborhood said. “I felt so violated because my clothes where down!"
Officers said at 4:53 a.m. Friday, June 16 they responded to the 1900 block of Slater Ridge Drive in reference to a woman who was sexually assaulted. Upon arrival, the woman told officers that she was asleep inside of her home when she was awoken by a man fondling her.
The woman said she screamed and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.
Slater Ridge Drive residents tell us this is not the first time they've dealt with a peeping tom. In fact, they've been dealing with one for years.
We spoke to a woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, worried the peeping tom might come back. She tells FOX 46 Charlotte someone used one of her lawn chairs to look into her bathroom window.
"He had the chair under my bathroom window. He's been here three time," she said.
Less than two hours later, at approximately 6:21 a.m., CMPD officers responded to Grass Run Court where a woman said she saw a man looking inside of her home through a window. The suspect description was similar to that of the earlier incident.
Further investigation revealed that another similar peeping tom incident occurred Thursday in the 3800 block of Gold Nugget Court. A woman observed a suspicious male in front of her house. A short time later she came outside and found one of her outside chairs under a window to her residence.'
People Tex FOX 46, they are worried he may come back again but say the only good that's come out of this is that police are patrolling the neighborhood constantly.
"I hope that whoever it is, they catch’em. The good thing though is that you got police making rounds. That at least will deter anybody else that's trying to come through anybody's window," Salter Ridge Resident Tony Graham said.
"I just pray that he gets help and that we get help. I don't want anything to happen to him but he needs to get some help," the anonymous woman said.
In each of these cases the suspect description is listed as a black male, approximately 25-30 years old with a thin build and 6’ in height.
Detectives with the Sexual Assault Unit are currently investigating these cases. North Division has increased patrols throughout this area and asks anyone with information to immediately call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
