Shelter opens in Salisbury for those left without power after storms

- Duke Energy reported Tuesday night that 4,000 customers in Rowan County were without power due to storms.

Currently, 1,420 customers are without power in the Salisbury area. 

Public safety and local government personnel are working with utility crews to restore power as quickly as possible.

The estimated full restoration date/time is Thursday, July 7, at 10 a.m. Due to the outages a day shelter will be opened at the Red Cross office located at 1930 W Jake Alexander Blvd in Salisbury starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday for any citizens without power and needing shelter.
