Officials recover two bodies in Lake Wylie

York County Sheriff's Office Lake Patrol Unit and Dive teams, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and South Carolina Natural Resource officers pulled a second man's body from Lake Wylie on Saturday night.

According to the York County Coroner's Office, the man was found at 4058 Clematis Trail and has been identified as David Napper, 59, of York.

Authorities say Napper was boating near Buster Boyd Bridge when his boat broke down around 4 a.m. He decided to swim to shore, but never made it.

Officials with SCDNR say a woman who was on board the boat was rescued. They said it's unclear whether the boat broke down or if it ran out of gas.

This second drowning incident comes after search crews discovered Lester Cook, III, 40, of Clover who fell off the dock at Allison Creek boat landing, just a few miles away from where Napper went missing. Rescue teams pulled Cook's body from the lake just after 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

Investigators say getting autopsy results will take several weeks.

Both deaths are still under investigation by the York County Sheriff's Office and the York County Coroner's Office.
