Sheriff's Office: Lincolnton car fire victim identified

-  The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has identified the body of a man found inside of a burning car. 

Detectives say Jimmy Wayne Brooks, 52, was identified following an autopsy on Monday, Jan. 22.

The North 321 Fire Department was dispatched to the scene in the 2600 block of High Knoll Rd. around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. where a 1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT. 

After the firefighters had put out the flames, they noticed the human remains inside of the car. The State Bureau of Investigations and the Lincoln County Fire Marshal's Office are working to investigate the fire.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
