CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A single mom and her daughter survived a violent home invasion over the weekend. She spoke exclusively with FOX 46 about the terrifying ordeal.
“I was woken up to a big loud boom and once i opened my eyes and came to reality a guy was standing over me with a gun.”
Timika Williams told FOX 46 she thought she was going to die when two men busted down her door and beat her with a gun.
“He hit me across my head and busted the back of my ear,” she said.
Just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, Williams says three men with guns busted in her home in the Keeneland neighborhood of Charlotte near Mountain Island Lake.
They forced their way in, she says, splitting a piece on the side of the back door in two.
“I didn't know if that was my last time seeing the world or being on earth,” Williams said.
She says the men walked her around her house demanding money at one point, had two guns pointed at her head.
“I was just praying to God that he continue to cover me and get these demons and devils out of my place.”
While the men were terrorizing Williams, she was also worried about her 16-year-old daughter. She thought her daughter was still in her room upstairs, but brilliantly and bravely, her daughter escaped out a window of the home upstairs.
“Her first mind was for her to raise this window up, and she didn’t know how to get out, and she decided she would just take her feet and just kick this out,” Williams said, as she demonstrated what her daughter did to get out of the house.
Williams says once the attackers realized her daughter got away, they knew they didn’t have much time.
“To me, my daughter was like a hero that saved my life because the first thing that came to her mind, is I got to go get help for my mom.”
Williams says the suspects got away with some money and jewelry.
“Why was I the target?” she asks. She still doesn’t know why the men came for her, but they haven’t been caught, and she’s worried they might come back.
Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact CMPD.
