MARION COUNTY, S.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - The Marion County Sheriff's Office is searching for those responsible after their playful pup, K9 Kilo, was 'mercilessly shot' by an unknown person this week.
Deputies said K9 Kilo escaped his enclosure, wearing his orange collar designating him a Marion County Sheriff’s K9, to sniff around the farm. Kilo was found soon after and had been mercilessly shot.
K9 Kilo was rushed to North Carolina State University for surgery.
"We ask that anyone with information regarding the identity and whereabouts of the shooter to please call 911," the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office is asking for prayers for Kilo and the entire K9 Team.
"Kilo is family," they said. A reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) involved in the shooting of K9 Kilo has risen to $1,500.
