STATESVILLE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A Statesville man is facing multiple charges after after he impersonated a police officer and was caught with drugs and a concealed firearm inside his vehicle, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
Matthew Lee Sells, 24, is facing a slew of charges including impersonate law enforcement officer by insignia, possession of blue light, possession of a concealed firearm, and felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance.
On Tuesday, March 19 a deputy spotted Sells inside his car at the corner of Crawford Road and Victory Lane with two strobe blue lights mounted in his vehicle. There were also stickers 'HP 511' and 'K-9' insignia on the car, which had been added to make the vehicle resemble law enforcement.
The deputy pulled Sells over and searched the vehicle. During the search a concealed firearm and controlled substances were discovered inside.
Sells was taken into custody and is currently being held under a $16,000 secured bond.
