Statesville teen accused of threatening school shooting, asking student for nudes

- A Statesville teenager is facing multiple charges after he reportedly threatened to shoot up his high school and attempted to entice another student to send him nude photos for money.

Colby Scott Park, 16, of Statesville is being held on a combined $35,000 bond at the Iredell County Detention Facility.

Between Feb. 20 and March 20, Park had enticed another student to send him nude photographs for money at North Iredell High School, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

On Friday, March 23, Park was charged with three counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

In a separate incident on Thursday, March 22 the sheriff's office received a complaint from school administration of a possible threat of a school shooting at North Iredell High School.

Detectives went to the high school to investigate the threat and through numerous interviews it was quickly determined that Park along with another teen had admitted to making statements as well as planning a school shooting.

While on scene, a second threat was made by a third student to shoot up North Iredell High School. This teenager made the threat to numerous students in one of the classes. This teen admitted to investigators he did make the threat but had no means to do so, but once he made some money and could buy a gun, he would shoot up the school, deputies said.

All three teenagers were charged with felony making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property. Two of the juveniles were turned over to Juvenile Justice for processing.

Park was identified as one of the three teenagers charged.
