Stolen car runs stop light injuring 6 people in east Charlotte

- A stolen car that ran a stop light and caused a crash sent 6 people to the hospital early Saturday afternoon in east Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say at 12:39 pm they received a license plate reader hit on a stolen car that was involved in a robbery earlier on Saturday morning.  As officers were attempting to locate the car, it ran a stop light on Sugar Creek Rd & The Plaza and t-boned another vehicle. Six people were treated for minor injuries and taken to the hospital by Medic. Charlotte Fire Dept. also responded to assist and to extinguish a fire that started when the vehicles collided.

The suspects that were occupying the stolen car jumped from the vehicle after the crash and started running. K-9 units from CMPD responded along with additional officers and they located the suspects shortly afterwards on a nearby street.  Those suspects are being detained.
