Stop! Sign catches drivers' attention in Charlotte

One Charlotte resident has taken it upon himself to kindly remind people to do the obvious - stop at a stop sign.

Justin Hansil told FOX 46 Charlotte he recently spent nearly 7 hours standing at Pecan and Commonwealth, as well as Thomas and Commonwealth, on Sunday, June 12, holding a sign that said, "Complete Stop Don't Be A Slop."

Hansil said he was blowing his whistle and 'shouting belligerently' to those that failed to comply. Hansil said he was motivated to make the sign after four years of living in the area, and having close encounters at crosswalks in the area of Plaza Midwood.

Many have spotted Hansil and his sign - either on their way to work or on social media.

He said reactions have been largely favorable, with some people going as far to bring him water. Some have even offered to buy him beer at The Common Market.

Many on social media have commented on the sign - thanking Justin for bringing awareness to the issue.

When can you expect to spot Hansil? He says he plans to spend a few more afternoons holding his sign this summer at various locations around Plaza Midwood.
