Strong storms bring trees down in Rowan county

- Thursday night's storms did some major damage. Salisbury police and Rowan County EMS told FOX 46 Charlotte, they got many calls of trees down blocking roads and taking power lines down. The good news is that no one was hurt.

Jennifer Schermer is one of the many that heard the gusty winds and crumbling trees.

"Sounded like a tractor-trailer hit the house and we came outside because we thought it was a car wreck," Schermer said.

That wreck? Turned out to be a tree limb that broke off and fell right in her backyard bringing down power lines connected to the side of her house and part of her gutters.

“Thank god that nobody was hurt and everyone is safe. These are material things. It can be replaced. It can be fixed," Schermer said.

The fact that it even happened left Schermer a little uneasy about the possibility of another tree coming down.

"Oh my gosh, we are going to get more trees down. You know, you hear the popping and cracking of other tree and stuff going on and i was just uncertain about what was going to happen. We do have some old trees in the yard and if this one is weak now, what are we going to have to contend with."
