Suspect accused of robbing Charlotte CVS at gunpoint arrested

- A suspect who has been accused of robbing a local Charlotte CVS at gunpoint Tuesday night has been arrested, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said. 

Police said Brandon James, 30, entered the CVS located at 5700 Albemarle Road around 6:60 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 and pulled out a firearm. He reportedly demanded property from the store before fleeing the scene in a vehicle that was waiting outside.

Detectives with the Real Time Crime Center were able to locate the suspect vehicle and provided a direction of travel to CMPD officers. They were able to locate the vehicle and pull it over. 

The passenger, later identified as James, took off running on foot and was taken into custody shortly after a foot chase. The driver and James were then taken to police headquarters. 

James is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a schedule II narcotic, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting arrest. Detectives said the driver did not have any knowledge of the robbery and was released and not charged.

This remains an ongoing, active investigation.
