Suspect identified in murder of elderly Kannapolis man

- Officers with the Kannapolis Police Department have arrested and charged a man for the murder of Arthur Lee "Buddy" Davis.

David Myron Dover, 53, was charged with first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The two men were co-workers at a local Kannapolis car dealership, according to Kannapolis officers.

Dover has a first appearance in Rowan County District Court on Friday, May 13, 2016 and he is being held under no bond. 

Officers were called to 2000 Chris Ann Lane at approximately 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 10 regarding a death investigation. 

Upon arrival, officers said they discovered Davis, 79, in the home.

Information regarding the cause of death is not being released at this time, police said. 

Officers said they're continuing to work an open and active homicide investigation.

A neighbor told FOX 46 Charlotte that Davis' son lives next door. 

One woman said her parents have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and is shocked to see this happen just a few doors down. 

"It's a very safe neighborhood. This is the first time this has ever happened here, it's very concerning," Tammy Allison said.
