CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man has been arrested in connection to a June hit-and-run that left a man dead, according to CMPD.
Thu suspect, Leon Lamar Moses Jr., 18, was served warrants for felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and no operators license.
On June 23, officers responded to the scene at Statesville Ave. and Norris Ave. Upon arrival, they found a man laying in the roadway next to a moped.
The victim, William Johnson Jr., 67, was transported to the Carolinas Medical Center. He died from his injurues on July 15
Witnesses said a Mitsubishi Mirage had hit the man and left the scene. The car was found a short distance away at Montreat Sr. and Norris Ave. unoccupied. The driver, Moses, fled on foot.
Following an investigation, detectives were able to determine Moses was the suspect. He is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department.
