Suspect sought in shooting, robbery that seriously injured Citgo gas station employee

- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is actively searching for a suspect who shot and seriously injured a south Charlotte convenience store employee during a robbery Wednesday night. 

The armed robbery happened at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at the Citgo gas station located at 5731 South Boulevard. 

Police responded to the area for reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they located a male employee inside the store with gunshot wounds. The 23-year-old man was taken to CMC-Main with serious injuries. 

According to police, the employee was locking up the business when the suspect forced him back inside at gunpoint. The suspect took property from the store and shot at the clerk as he left. 

As the suspect fled the scene, he shot into a vehicle that was driving by. The person inside that vehicle was not injured, police said. 

The suspect is described as a black male, last seen wearing a black ski mask, black long sleeve shirt, and black pants. This is an ongoing, active investigation. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
