Man wanted in robberies in Wal-Mart parking lots

- Rock Hill police say they are looking for a man wanted in two robberies inside Wal-Mart parking lots Wednesday night.

Officers were initially called to Wal-Mart, located at 2377 Dave Lyle Boulevard, to a reported robbery. The victim told police that she was leaving work when a young skinny white male suspect grabbed her from behind and stole her phone and purse.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a camouflage mask, black hoodie and black pants. A witness said he saw the suspect almost throw the woman to the ground before getting into the passenger side of a burgundy vehicle that had tinted windows and an out tail light.

Investigators were able to find the victim's cell phone, which was completely destroyed, in a nearby intersection.

Officers were then called to the Newport Wal-Mart, located at 4875 Old York Road, this time to a strong arm robbery. The mother of the victim, who has Down Syndrome and had limited speaking ability, told investigators that a man stole her daughter's purse. She said she had just finished loading her groceries into her car and was taking her cart back when she heard her daughter scream from the passenger seat.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a blond wig and a ball cap, long sleeve flannel like shirt and jeans. The victim's mother said the suspect jumped into the passenger side of a burgundy color vehicle with tinted windows.

Surveillance cameras located closest to the incident were not operating at the time, according to police. Wal-Mart staff were also unable to record the video and stated that they would have a CD burned and contact the police when it was available.

Anyone with information on either of these cases is asked to contact Rock Hill Police.
