SWAT situation ends in northeast Charlotte with suspect's surrender

- One man is in custody following an over 6-hour long standoff with SWAT in northeast Charlotte Wednesday morning, police said.

CMPD officers and the SWAT team responded to a home around 2:32 a.m. in the 700 block of Potenza Drive in the University City area for a domestic situation possibly involving a gun.

The 911 caller advised that her relative's boyfriend, who was potentially armed, would not let her relative and her three children out of the house, ages 10, 12 and 17.

Members of the SWAT Team and negotiators responded to the scene, set up a perimeter and attempted to make contact with the suspect, identified as Corey Lamont Seburn, 40.

The barricaded suspect eventually came out of the home around 9 a.m. Wednesday and was taken into custody. He is currently being transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office for charges related to this incident.

CMPD and SWAT were able to peacefully resolve the situation.
