ROCK HILL, SC (FOX 46) - SWAT teams responded to a barricade situation Friday afternoon in Rock Hill, police said.
On Ellis Street in Rock Hill, dozens of Police and SWAT team officers swarmed the neighborhood near Cherry Road.
"This doesn't look good! We’ve never seen anything like this. This is the first time, in the three years I've lived here, it's the first time I've seen this many officers," Rock Hill Resident Juan Lagunes-Romero said.
Rock Hill Police tell FOX 46 Charlotte a 49 year old woman barricaded herself in her home, threatened to harm herself but gave no reason as to why.
Police initially had to send York County Sheriff’s Deputies to the scene to help because Rock Hill SWAT team was already handling another situation on Crawford road.
Many surrounding roads were blocked around the home on Ellis Street and that made it hard for people to get to their homes.
"My brother’s wife lives right down there and I was coming over to check on them but they won't let me down there," Tommy Humphries said.
Neighbors say this is a very diverse neighborhood and mostly everyone is friendly.
"It's a pretty quiet neighborhood. A lot of good people," Jeff Stubbs said.
One neighbor that lives close to where the woman lives - tells me he's he's seen her walking around
"I've never met her in person but i've seen her walk by a few times. She never seemed like a person that had problems or issues. I don't know why she acting like this," Lagunes-Romero said.
Neighbors are shocked to see how long this situation has lasted but hope police can help the woman gets the help she needs.
