Tattoo studio competes with Denver studio

"It's a fun way to express yourself, decorate yourself and I'm just kind of spontaneous like that," said Aria Novi, a repeat customer at Tattoo Bills about getting ink done.

The family-owned shop says they've always done Panther tattoos since the team's existence but with the team's huge success, there's been more than average lately.  "There's an influx," said the business's owner, Bill Thigpen. "It's unbelievable. It's everyday."

For Thursday and Friday, the shop is offering a discounted rate for small Panther-related tattoos from black and blue paw prints to the "Keep Pounding" slogan as part of a competition.

"We're challenged by a shop in Colorado to see who could do more Panthers tattoos or more Brancos tattoos," said Alex Santaloci, Tattoo Artist.  All of the proceeds from the team-related tattoos will go to the Cam Newton Foundation.  "What we're really excited about is the ability to raise money for a good cause more than anything."

And many were eager to take part.

"I wanted to get a Panthers tattoo," said Barbara Fleuret, customer.  "I wanted to support my team. The support of the city and the hope that they bring for us it tears me up a little bit."

"I've been a huge Cam Newton fan for many many years," said Novi.  "To see him finally really performing the way I always knew he could perform and to see him take the Panthers all the way to the Super Bowl is just awesome."

While tattoos may not be everyone, Santaloci says it's a great way to express who you are, as well as who your favorite team might be.

"It's a permanent memento to just remember this season and remember this team by what they're doing in this community and it's really inspiring people I think."
