Taxi driver shot during robbery in Kannapolis

- A taxi driver was rushed to the hospital after police say he was shot during a robbery in Kannapolis Friday morning.

The robbery happened about 6:30 a.m. at Carolina Taxi, located at 700 S. Main Street. According to Kannapolis police, two black males dressed in black clothing entered Carolina Taxi and attempted to rob the employee. They say the employee was shot twice.

"It was chaos. It was really chaos," said taxi driver Vincent Davis.

He was taken to Northeast Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition, police said. Fellow employees tell FOX 46 that he is expected to be okay.

No arrests have been made at this time.

I'm not going to shoot to wound you. I'm going to shoot to kill you. That's it, said Davis. "It's just that simple. I have a purpose out here and it's for my kids. I'm not going to let anyone take my life from me, especially over the some money."

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-932-7463.
